On 29 October, Joep Beving will perform part of his album Liminal in a setting that feels made for it.
While Liminal moves between intention and intuition, EINDER explores the balance between control and surrender. At the Centrale Markthal, these two worlds come together: Boris Acket transforms the space through light and movement, while Joep Beving fills it with sound.
Together, they create an immersive experience in which space, artist and audience become part of something greater.
Joep Beving has been connected to the piano since childhood. Over time, his playing evolved into a gentle, minimalist style he describes as “simple music for complex emotions.”
In 2015, Beving independently released his debut album Solipsism. Its intimate sound soon reached Deutsche Grammophon, leading to internationally acclaimed albums including Prehension, Conatus and HENOSIS. His music has since made him one of the most widely listened-to contemporary pianists.
Through warm piano melodies, electronic textures and orchestral arrangements, Beving explores themes of stillness, connection and our place in the world. His compositions invite listeners to slow down, reflect and find beauty in simplicity.
Joep Beving’s new album Liminal, out March 2026 on Deutsche Grammophon,is a search for renewal. Over the span of 15 pieces, Joep contemplates a relationship with the world in which we listen to nature, move with it, and let it speak through art. In that sense, composing becomes less about control and more about tuning in, about finding harmony between human intention and the larger forces of life.

The Centrale Markthal is accessed via a footbridge. After contacting us by email, wheelchair users can arrange to be met at the gatehouse and assisted to the venue.
Two parking spaces are reserved for visitors arriving by car with a wheelchair. These spaces are located to the left of the main entrance of the Markthal, on the south side of the building. If you would like to use one of these spaces, please let us know in advance.
